As a florist, you always come to have a small talk with customers who are just waiting for their bunch of flowers while I’m getting them ready for them. From time to time you hear stories that give you shivers and which will remain in your memory forever. Here is one of those stories:
An old man came and ordered two dozen yellow tulips.
I came to talk to him when I was looking for the flowers for him and tied them into two bouquets – as he had ordered them.
- Are they for your wife?
- Yep, it’s her birthday, they’re her favorite, I give her yellow tulips every year.
- Really? Every year? Wow! How long have you been married, Mister?
- 63 years.
- Oh, wow. And you’ve never forgot to bring her yellow tulips on her birthday?
- Never.
- Oh, that’s something, man!
…
And after a while, before he left, he said: - Oh, and please cut the stems a little bit shorter than usual! The vases on the gravestones have gotten smaller these days.
