When I travelled to San Francisco last May and drove through the streets of the city in those old Muni Cable Cars I was completely surprised how we Germans live unconsciously in an environment of highly developed technology while in SF where the empire of many of these technology companies is at home, they rattle around in those cable cars developed over 70 years ago, equipped with only one audio notification “Stop requested”!
The question is: does Technology make us happy? I don’t think so.
Technology makes some of the processes of our daily lives simpler, faster, easier and with less physical effort. You won’t be buying newspapers in the conventional way these days, or many things are just ordered online. That’s why fitness studios have appeared in our lives with technology. But are we happier today? NO!
The social network makes many people addicted and as a consequence depressed. You have no joy in anything. If you don’t set yourself a limit you are in danger. The interpersonal actions are reduced. You live isolated, just like in a cell of one of these numerous science fiction movies…
Personally, I’ve always admired America and the Americans (I’m not trying argue the fact of technology with the characters of American or any other nation! It was just a pretty personal experience.) and every time I’m there, I’m very taken with the warmth of the Americans. I want to go back to the States over and over again to those people with their One Signal public Vehicles.
